Solar workshop Rotorua

Expanding a country’s capability to harness the energy of the sun is a goal of many governments across the world.

Greenmatch reports “ the solar capacity in the UK had increased from 5,488.6 MW in 2014 to 13,259 MW in June 2019. On top of that, the UK’s maximum net generating solar capacity was 13.1 GW in 2018, which placed it at the 3rd position among the other EU member states’.

Energy Ireland states that solar is “emerging as the fastest growing renewable power source in Ireland. The inclusion in Climate Action Plan 2023 (CAP23) of a target of 5GW of solar PV capacity (including at least 1GW of non-new grid solar) by 2025 and an 8GW target for 2030 represents a significant shift in the role of solar in reaching the overarching 80% of electricity demand from renewable energy by 2030.

Engaging and training our rangatahi in renewable sources of energy continues to be the goal of our PTC workshops.

Excellent work by the Rotorua team!
