Augmented Reality with GNS scientists- Hawkesbay region
Working in collaboration with GNS Science team of scientists, PTC was privileged with the opportunity to showcase MBIE’s Curious minds augmented reality sandbox within the Hastings region. The GNS team comprised 3 Geologist/Geophysicists - Jenny, Katie and Wanda. Our young group of intermediate students learned about the joys of working as a geophysicist in New Zealand, the wonder of discovering mountains and hills under the oceans and how to understand earthquakes and their effect.
Even hard facts like learning about contouring, topological mapping were made easier throughout this interactive, hands-on workshop. Schools were presented with a small scale topographic map (made widely accessible on the Land and Information, NZ website) so that students can continue learning about unique features of NZ landscape.
