Robotics with WaikatoTR

Trident rangatahi enjoyed their day out at Waikato University as they participated in PTC’s Trust robotic workshop facilitated by Dr Lim of the University of Waikato Department of Engineering, Robotics, Automation and Sensing.

Students learnt how engineers are using artificial intelligence to improve the capabilities of the robots around them to follow human behavior. Whether artificial intelligence enables simple or complex robots to self- navigate, self-evaluate and analyse or pick up and put down objects with sensitivity and minimal damage. The future is shaping to become one in which robots have more self-automony and less dependency on human control and management. Advancements in AI will certainly improve the effectiveness and efficiency of machines in the workplace, but can they ever replace the wonder of the human employee? Time will tell.
