Drones and deforestationW
PTC brought drones to the Waiarapa’s as we raise awareness about the effect of deforestation across Aotearoa. Students were engaged in flying, coding and even replanting fake mini trees in an effort to increase awareness about the need for reforestation efforts. Trees and forest are vital for our ecosystems, and today’s workshop provided insight into the way drones are also being used for determining where trees have been lost and replanting of forest needs to occur.
Australia is deploying autonomous tree-planting drones capable of restoring forests up to ten times faster than manually.
